Samantha Bonanno
Paper Art
Samantha Bonanno is a paper artist whose research focuses on the transformation of paper into modular forms that tell stories of space, meaning and emotions. Each work is born from a concept, a deep reflection on a word or a phrase, as a starting point for a creative journey. Through cuts, folds and manual assembly, she makes the invisible tangible, she tries to bring to consciousness concepts that are often forgotten, creating compositions that are aesthetically powerful and emotionally engaging. Her art is a way of exploring the infinite hidden meaning of even the simplest things, stimulating reflections and thoughts that can deeply resonate with those who observe her works.

Écru paper on canvas cm 50 x 70 Cumulonimbus is a cloud generated in conditions of atmospheric instability. Typical of thunderstorms, they are the site of strong and dangerous upward motions, and bring electrical discharges and heavy rainfall. The extraordinary beauty of something dreadful. Perfect metaphor for what sometimes happens to us too.

Crepe paper on cardboard cm 75 x 38 Nubivagant : from the Latin , "nubes", clouds, and "vagant", wandering. Nubivagant does not have his feet on the ground: his imagination is his solid floor, on which he rests without fear.

"I believe in wonder.
I always believed that paper could be a precious material, if it's used with passion and care. Paper, just like fabric, has a natural magic and a long life.
I believe that words are important, just like their meaning and their history, and that they must be chosen with awareness and wisdom.
I believe that objects can absorb emotions from their creators, and from people who own them.
I believe in Nature, boundless source of inspirations, that contains wonder.
And I believe that everything in life is art.
We are art."
FORMA MENTIS
Forma Mentis is an endless journey where paper meets other materials, like fabric or wire
and became something else.
Is art to wear , to experience and carried around with all its meaning.
It is a latin term that indicates a person’s mindset , a person’s set of attitude, or ,
more simply,the mental structure.
It also interesting how these two words alone precisely indicate artistic work: continuos
reflection and study which are expressed through shapes.
